The Women's Bible Study has resumed meeting on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. at the parsonage. The new study guide is titled "John's Letters: Discovering Genuine Christianity" by Ron Blankley, published by InterVarsity Press, which is a study of 1, 2 & 3 John. This twelve week study will carry us through the end of May.

The author points out in his introduction that many are confused as to what it means to be a Christian (or to be "born again.") He provides the shocking statistic that 20% of those who say they are "born again" do not belong to any church and one-third of them believe in astrology and reincarnation.

False teachings and misconceptions about Christianity abound, and it is wise to have a strong understanding of what we believe. The Apostle John, author of the Gospel of John and the Book of Revelation, clearly addresses the problems of false teachings, which have plagued believers through the centuries. The tests given by the Apostle John and explored by Pastor Blankley are not a mere war of words and philosophies, but are practical applications of our faith in our daily lives.

-Chapter One is titled "Fellowship & Forgiveness" and looks at what Christian fellowship is and why it is important     to every believer.
-Chapter Two is titled "Talking & Walking the Truth" which explores action    and obedience to God in our daily     "walk" as Christians.
-Chapter Three, "Encouragement & Warning" covers worldliness.
-Chapter Four: "How Important Is Theology?" helps us identify and defend ourselves from false teachers.
-Chapter Five: "Like Father, Like Son" emphasizes how doing what is right is a necessary element in identifying     those who are "born of God."
-Chapter 6: "Blessed Assurance" addresses the doubts we can experience over our salvation.
-Chapter 7: "Discernment & Devotion" is about confronting false teachings.
-Chapter 8: "Fear's Remedy" discusses worry and trust.
-Chapter 9: "Faith Is the Victory" looks at what our faith is.
-Chapter 10: "What We Know as Christians" discusses prayer.
-Chapter 11: "Truth & Love" moves on to 2 John and looks at the connection between truth and love.
-Chapter 12: "Opening Our Hearts & Homes" covers 3 John and the importance of hospitality.

While the study can be an excellent tool for the individual, I strongly recommend joining this group study. Not only does Marilyn provide additional information, but the discussions provide additional insight and emphasis as well as excellent fellowship as we grow in Christ together!.
